  •  Sub-Himalayan Light Alluvial Semi – evergreen forests in northern parts.

  • Climate is warm and humid.
  • 450 species of birds and 543 plants species.

FLORA

543 plants species,374 species of dicotyledons,139 species monocotyledons and 30 are Pteridophytes and Gymnosperms.

FAUNA

55 species of mammals, 450 species of birds, 50 of reptiles, and 3 species of amphibians.

FLAGSHIP SPECIES : WILD WATER BUFFALO

  • Asian buffalo, Asiatic buffalo and wild Asian buffalo.
  • Endangered in the IUCN Red List since 1986.
  • 3,100 (91%) live in India, mostly in Assam.
  • It is associated with wet grasslands, swamps, flood plains and densely vegetated river valleys.
